Maserati says the GranTurismo range has been streamlined and buyers and enthusiasts alike should now expect GranTurismo Sport and GranTurismo MC for 2018. Both of these versions will share similar interior specifications and powertrain options. In the meantime however, Maserati will no-longer continue to offer the 4.2L GranTurismo model.
The 2018 Maserati Corse (MC) will take charge in spearheading all the essential diplomatic roles for the whole model range and will represent the brand’s illustrious journey that has witnessed bespoke technology and feature development. The Maserati Corse will now step in as a replacement for the Maserati Corse Stradale and promises to offer new features as well as upgraded ones.
The new 2018 Maserati GranTurismo now comes in five interior trim options and eight interior colors. These range from the Walnut Briarwood and Black Piano to Carbon Fiber. The aforementioned ones are all available on the GranTurismo Sport and GranTurismo MC versions.
Other than the colors and streamlined versions, here’re the rest of the changes for 2018: the exterior has been restyled and now features new front air ducts, grille, and new bumpers; the drag coefficient has now been slightly improved to 0.32; the infotainment system is new; and the center console has been upgraded and now features a double rotary control.
In contrast to Ferrari, the new model just like the previous one is all about aesthetics as opposed to getting frisky on the track. In conclusion, we particularly love how the 2018 Maserati GranTurismo seamlessly combines Italian culture with stunning interior style and details to offer one of the most stunning and curvaceous vehicles on the market.
However, we find its lack of transmission options (only an automatic is offered), huge curb weight, and limited utility functions to be significant reasons for anyone to think twice about owning one.

2018 Maserati GranTurismo Engine Performance & Specs
Under the hood of this model is a 4.7L V8 engine that produces a whopping 460 horsepower. The transmission system still remains a 6-speed automatic and this is tasked with the responsibility of taking the 460 sonorous horsepower to the rear wheels. The previous 4.7L V8 generated 454 horsepower, which therefore means Maserati has improved the output by a mere 6 horsepower over the previous model.
Although Maserati has yet to mention the GranTurismo 0-60 mph run, we don’t expect a significant change over the 4.7 seconds posted by the 2017 model. This also goes for the fuel economy.
The EPA rated the previous model at 16 mpg combined.
Maserati GranTurismo Interior & Exterior Changes
The MY18 GranTurismo front and rear bumpers are new and elegantly refine the visual design aesthetics. And while both the MC and the Sport may share the same basic features, some are distinctive and personalized for each model. For example, the front headlights are unique for each model.
Up front, the bumper features a ‘shark nose’ profile that is surrounded by a chrome insert and now has a larger, hexagonal grille than before. The ‘shark nose’ adds a 3-D effect and Maserati says has been inspired by the Alfieri Concept model. The new upfront design also helps reduce aerodynamic drag while optimizing airflow distribution.
The lateral ducts on the front bumper have been redesigned for 2018. According to Maserati, they contribute to improve aerodynamic efficiency, while also heightening a sense of dynamic stability. The redesigned air splitter and front bumper have contributed to lowering the drag coefficient value to 0.32 from 0.33.
The exterior of the MY18 GranTurismo is now available in a whopping sixteen colors. Four more three layer colors are now available while a brand new three layer color (Blu Assoluto) has been introduced for the first time. There’s an exterior carbon package that is offered for both the MC and Sport versions, and a range of fourteen light alloy wheels available in six designs.
The new Maserati GranTurismo 2018 interior remains elegant and offers an unparalleled level of comfort thanks to leather seats (Poltrona Frau) whose headrests are integrated. The dashboard is complemented in high fashion style by leather stitching and now features a more sculptured design outlook.
At the center of the dashboard is an 8.4” touchscreen display that features an upgraded infotainment system. This state of the art infotainment system has been integrated to function together with both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
Other interior features and technologies to expect include state-of-the-art Harman Kardon premium sound system, heated seats, user-friendly rotary dial, a more prominent looking Maserati clock with a double dial, gearshift paddles, Alcantara/Poltrona Frau leather upholstery and drilled aluminum foot pedals.
The most prominent options available on the market today are Ferrari California T and Aston martin Vantage. As 2017, the Aston Martin Vantage will be 12 years old and has got almost everything most people shopping for cars in this class are looking for. It offers two engines with the least powerful offering 430 horsepower and 361 lbs. ft. of torque and the most potent one giving away 565 horsepower and 457 lbs. ft. of torque. Pricing is $190K.
The California T model, on the other hand, boasts of new styling cues, a brand new engine, and an updated interior. With the new engine beneath its hood, the T model now produces a staggering 552 horsepower and 557 lbs. ft. of torque. This enables it achieve a 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and go on to achieve a top speed of 196 mph. pricing is however steep at $207K.

Maserati has already confirmed the date of release for USA, New Zealand and Australia, which it says should take place sometime in March 2018. Pricing is yet to be announced but shouldn’t change much with the upgrades. As such, we should expect the Maserati GranTurismo US spec model to set you back by around $134K, while the GranTurismo MC should go for sale for around $152K.
