Ever since the Rolls-Royce Phantom was judged ‘The Best Car in the World’, the automaker has continued on a tireless pursuit of aesthetic acuity, visionary engineering, and design perfection. As a result, the nameplate has continued to grab headlines for the right reasons for the last 92 years. And as expected, the new 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom continues on the same successful streak already left by its predecessors.
The eighth generation model features a contemporary design that’s expected to revolutionize the entire luxury business. Needless to say, the new model points the way forward for the global luxury segment. It is geared towards discerning customers who have a taste for personalization.
Designed by engineers from Rolls-Royce, the architecture that is expected to underpin every model beginning from the new Phantom is an all-aluminum spaceframe architecture. That said, it’ll differentiate itself from some mass-luxury brands who are notorious in using monocoque for their cars’ construction.

Additionally, the approach in construction moving forward will be truly revolutionary. Unlike most car makers that use the same platform for constructing all their cars and thereby end up compromising on key design and performance elements, Rolls-Royce is committed to offering vehicles that only use one architecture.
Beneath the hood of the newest 2018 Phantom is a brawny 6.75L V12 engine that delivers a staggering 420kW/563bhp of power and 900Nm of torque. Besides the impressive performance specs, the new model also comes equipped with a high-tech smorgasbord of driver safety features. These include vision assist and night vision, helicopter view, pedestrian warning, alertness assistant, collision warning, active cruise control among others.

2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom Engine Specs & Performance
At the heart of the refreshed Phantom is a cold-hearted 6.75L V12 engine. Despite this engine being capable of generating a whopping 563 horsepower and an incredible 664 lbs. ft. of torque, Rolls-Royce says it is unsurprisingly silent whilst on the road.
One change that makes it different from the previous models is that the engine lurking beneath its hood comes mounted to a pair of turbochargers. Also, the current output represents an increase of 109 horsepower and 133 lbs. ft. of torque over its predecessor.
The engine is mated to an eight-speed ZF gearbox. Rolls-Royce is yet to make the 0-60 mph information known. Nonetheless, it is very possible for the Phantom to hit 62mph in just 5.9 seconds at least according to our renderings.
Besides, it comes equipped with a smorgasbord of safety features. Some, but not all, assistance systems on board the New Phantom include: Vision Assist and Night Vision, helicopter view, pedestrian warning, collision warning, active cruise control, lane-change warning, lane departure, and cross-traffic warning.
2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom Release Date & Price
According to the car maker, the latest Phantom will cost a staggering $450,000 once it goes for sale. Speaking of going for sale, the same source says would-be buyers should expect its release date sometime this fall.
On pricing and feature set alone, the Phantom, once released, will go head to head with the Bentley Mulsanne – its only arch rival. Priced beginning from $300,000, the Mulsanne packs almost the same engine as the Phantom. It is a 6.75L V8 capable of generating 505 horsepower and 752 lbs. ft. of torque. With this engine seated in its belly, the Mulsanne is capable of reaching 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds – a significantly quicker sprint than what the Phantom is hoped to deliver. The top speed stands at 184 mph.
Just like the 2018 Phantom, the Mulsanne also features a somewhat boxy design, complemented by dominating body lines, and its large rectangular grille. When it comes to life aboard, the Mulsanne compares almost similarly. It too features tons of customization options, acres of leather, and loads of wooden trims.
