The new 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante now replaces the outgoing Gallardo Performante. This much-awaited news were made public during the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. According to Lamborghini, the new model combines new active aerodynamics, lightweight technologies with a new set-up of improved powertrain, an all-wheel drive system and a revamped chassis.
According to top automotive analysts, the new model is set to produce one of the best super car performance as a result of the new innovations from Lamborghini.
One main engineering surgery the latest vehicle has undergone over its immediate predecessor is perhaps the extensive use of forged composite in conjunction with aluminum. The result of this is a lightweight body and optimum stiffness. Furthermore, the forged composite also allows for the possible creation of complex design cues.
The aforementioned lightweight materials, Lamborghini says, have been featured in main structural component areas such as the aerodynamic diffuser, rear bumper, the engine bonnet, and the front and rear spoiler. The result is a 40 kg reduction of the car’s weight over its immediate predecessor.

Exterior Design & Redesigns
While the new model might have received accolades for its new stylish, contemporary designs, it still remains a Lamborghini to its core. The design reflects the performance and pure lines of the automaker’s Super Trofeo cars.
One glance at the new 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante and one quickly notices how lightweight build and active aerodynamics are integral to the car.
At the front end, the car gives a bold impression thanks to the new design of the air intakes and splitter that give an impression of incisors. Again, sportiness, efficiency, and lightweight are emphasized by the front bumper that lacks grills.
The rear is both fascinating and race-inspired. It reinforces the significance of active aerodynamics thanks to extensive featuring of carbon fiber. Moreover, the forged composite technology made it possible for the air ducts to be integrated in the rear wing in one piece.
Interior Redesign Changes - 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante
Just like its predecessors, the interior of the new model is reminiscent of aerodynamics and lightweight construction.
Most of the elements are created from forged composite including the center console, door handles, paddles and air vents. Lightweight, dark colored Alcantara fabric has extensively been used in order to reference the Lamborghini Huracan’s racing heritage.
Three drive-modes are available to choose from – Corsa, Sport or Strada, which are displayed on the configurable digital cockpit. The driver can now be able to study, record, and replay his own performance thanks to the new Lamborghini telemetry system on the new cockpit layout.
Performance & 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante Engine Specs
Beneath the hood of this impressive machine is a monstrous 640-horsepower V10 engine that also generates 443 pounds of torque. This power should then be taken up by the dual-clutch transmission system to all the four wheels.
Lamborghini says the new Huracan Performante has been able to achieve such performance levels thanks to a combination of sophisticated technologies. To begin with, the engine fluid dynamics have been optimized for both intake and exhaust. Secondly, responsiveness of the V10’s air intake has been improved through the reduction of losses. And thirdly, the engine performance and permeability have been increased due to the new titanium valves that allow for higher lifting of the valves.
Also, the new model features what the automaker calls ALA – Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva. This ALA manages active aerodynamics thanks to a smart and innovative functionality. When necessary, it makes it easier to increase acceleration and reach the top speed by reducing aerodynamic resistance. Also, it improves stability and speed through curves.
According to Lamborghini, the new model should now be able to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds flat.
Although the Porsche 911 GT3 can be pitted against the Performante coupe, the German sports car lacks a convertible option therefore leaving McLaren and Ferrari as the next options. The two rivals at the moment however lack anything similar but rumors are rife they could be offered sometime in the near future.
In conclusion, we find the performance and looks of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante 2018 hard not to get excited about. This is because it offers much more aerodynamics kit that neither the Ferrari 488 nor the McLaren 720S can offer. On pricing however, the two rivals are a tad bit affordable by around $20,000 to $30,000 – assuming that makes any difference.
Lamborghini Huracan Performante Release Date & Price
According to trusted online publications, the new model will cost $274,390 when it arrives in the U.S later this summer. The price aforementioned however doesn’t include delivery charges.
