The new 2018 Toyota Camry XSE comes with a radical design that now features a sophisticated new suspension, extroverted design, and a toned chassis. Furthermore, the car remains sportier to drive and has a better fuel economy than most of its rivals.
Ever since its debut back in 1983, the Camry has managed to execute its mission so well that it has managed to become the best-selling family sedan in the U.S market today.
It is bold and athletic, replacing the uninspiring silhouette that we’ve come to expect on the Camry. This, Toyota says, is because the new model unlike before is wider, lower, and longer – an architecture that gave its engineers better dimensioned canvas to work with.
Toyota says the exterior visibility hasn’t been compromised as a result of low proportions, because both the side glass and hood have, too, dropped a tad bit lower than before. Camry’s XSE model now features a more captivating and powerful shape. It features a mix of chisel surfaces and sweeping curves.
For efficiency and performance, integrated rear spoiler and sport side rocker panels emphasize the coiled stance and help in redirecting air flow. Up front, the gloss-black grille’s aggressive lines draw you in. Also for 2018, the new Toyota XSE gets powerful yet efficient LED headlights with LED DRL. They come fully integrated with LED daytime running lights and feature a smoke tint.
Around back, one should probably expect a lasting impression thanks to the powerful-looking dual-exhaust with quad exhaust.
The powerful and stylish rear headlights’ LEDs feature an eye-catching organic shape that seamlessly integrate into the bumper. Down below, Toyota says the new model comes with black machined-finished 19-inch alloy wheels.
The interior, on the other side, is inviting and as Toyota says, “it’s a space that’s all about you.” Much of the changes here have been directed to improving the overall driving and comfort feel. For instance, the new 2018 Camry XSE comes with a new 8-inch multimedia touchscreen interface that offers a suite of exciting features including an Entune 3.0 system that can be customized to a personalized level.
Again, the design is now driver-focused. Toyota says this new driver-centric design envelops a driver with an intuitive feeling. Innovative technologies are other key elements that are available as well.
They include, a Birds Eye View Camera system – handy in tight parking and driving spots. An Intelligent Clearance Sonar with Rear Cross Braking – able to detect any nearby objects and offer necessary mitigation factors. A Wi-Fi Connect Powered Verizon – allowing multiple connectivity rid of wires and worries. And finally, Remote Connect – making it possible for you to monitor guest drivers, locate the car’s position, and control interior temperatures remotely.
Unlike previous Camrys of yore that relied on a rear strut suspension due to cost factors, the new 2018 Toyota Camry XSE V6 comes with a much stiffer platform and a double-wishbone rear suspension system. The more sophisticated platform was evident on the Toyota Prius that was recently released, which now gained better steering and handling, reduced road noise, and improved ride comfort.
And from those positive effects already witnessed on the Prius, the Camry XSE 2018 stands a good chance of offering better comfort, being quieter, and offering an overall improved drive quality as well. These additional qualities would without the slightest of doubts catapult its standings in the midsize sedan segment to an even higher standing than before.
Like previous times, Toyota has offered the Camry with three engine choices – including a returnee and new ones. New ones are the 2.5L four-cylinder and the 3.5L V6 engines. The 2.5L inline-4 continues to be the base engine and is now rated at 206 horsepower and comes mated on an eight-speed auto.
The 3.5L V6 is paired to the same transmission system and produces 301 horsepower. The other engine choice is the Hybrid version available for the Camry Hybrid model. It combines the base model’s 2.5L four-cylinder engine with electric motors to generate 176 horsepower. The 2018 Toyota Camry XSE comes equipped with the 206 hp-producing 3.5L V6 engine.

Even before indulging straight to the nitty gritty details, here’re the exterior color options available for you: Brown Stone, Blue Crash Metallic, Galactic Aqua Mica, Ruby Flare Pearl, Midnight Black Metallic, Celestial Silver Metallic, and Predawn Gray Mica.
Moving along, the new model, as already told, now has a firm, wide stance. It is longer, wider, and lower – dimensions that’ve made the new Camry XSE model sportier and undoubtedly upscale than its immediate predecessor.
It goes without saying that the new model deservedly stacks up against the most handsome midsize sedans out there. Relative to the other models offered under the Camry badge, the sportier SE and XSE lead the pack thanks to their more complex, sculpting shapes. Features include new sill extensions, a small lip spoiler on the trunk lid, and a revised rear bumper.
Inside, the new 2018 Toyota Camry XSE gets entirely redesigned front seats, an upgraded infotainment system, and a cool mix of soft-touch materials and colors.
One of the most notable changes here might be the latest Entune 3.0 infotainment system. It is smart, easier to use and is offered together with a boatload of convenient features.
The interior roominess has been preserved thanks to the nearly two-inch-longer wheelbase. What has however changed in this regard is the knee clearance and rear-seat legroom that are now more generous than before.
Furthermore, the Camry XSE comes with multiple color hues including the red-and-black scheme that make it feel more adventurous.
Just like the Prius, the new Toyota Camry comes with refreshed engines thanks to the Toyota’s new TNGA architecture. While their displacements and layout may be familiar, the engines reek of freshness and strength.
The 2018 Toyota Camry XSE in particular comes with a 3.5L V6 engine capable of generating 301 horsepower – a 33 horsepower increase over the outgoing model. Torque on the other end, grows from 248 pounds to 267 pounds. The power is then fed to the wheels via the new eight-speed automatic rather than via the outgoing model’s six-speed unit.
Besides the power increase, the new model also builds upon its traditional virtues that emphasize on better fuel economy. According to the EPA, the 3.5L V6 engine should now be able to return 22mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway – a 2mpg increase in its combined figure.
Safety has also seen some improvements. Buyers should now expect features such as adaptive cruise control, automated braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane departure, and forward collision warning. In addition, there’s also rear-cross traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.
